Wendy Yeo was born in Hong Kong, Where she studied Chinese painting techniques, At the age of seventeen she moved to England to further her art studies at Slade School of fine art, University of London. She graduated with many prizes and completed an additional postgraduate year.
Her paintings are in many private and public collections, including the Ashmolean Museum; Wolfson College, Oxford; UCL Art Museum; the Slade School Collection; The British Library; Hong Kong Museum, and in the Private Collections of John Piper and Professor Michael Sullivan. “Cityscapes have interested me a lot, particularly cities by water such as New York, Hong Kong, Venice, Istanbul and London; also the colour of buildings, their reflections in water, and various changes of light through the day,” says Wendy. “Apart from that I am even more involved with natural forms, e.g. plants, trees, rocks, sea, and water in lakes and waterfalls, portraying form with movement and space and all the natural energy of nature. The media I use are watercolour and also acrylic on canvas. Having been born in Hong Kong and graduated from the Slade School, I like to exploit the Chinese traditional use of the brush and the Oriental use of space mixed with a Western individual interpretation of form, light and colour.” Wendy is also very influenced by the Coast of Pembrokeshire and it is a place she returns to often to paint. Wendy has recently been listed in two published books – ‘Art universal, The great Encyclopedia of international art’ and ’50 Artists to invest in’ .
